Assignment 1: Preparing for Mentorship

My mentorship is at West Forsyth High School where I am shadowing a geometry teacher. Most days of the week I am in the classroom helping facilitate lessons, homework, quizzes, and tests. I am also there to learn as much as I can about the teaching profession.

I envision myself gaining an understanding in the fundamentals of teaching high school children a difficult subject area as well as helping the students to succeed.

The actions I will take to ensure that I get the most out of my mentorship include: being enthusiastic about geometry and learning, having a positive attitude, dressing in a manner to be taken seriously by the students, as well as soaking up as much knowledge as I can during my time in class.

These steps will help me prepare for the future because I will gain real world experience of being in a classroom daily that will help me to be prepared for my intended college major and my eventual career. I can't wait!
